Finding You...

Blog 10/30/14

It's important to find yourself for so many reasons. Firstly, when you find you- you will discover how all your flaws don't disfigure your beauty. They, in fact, make you an even lovelier creature. For anyone who has found their core, that inner compass, the girl/woman, boy/man that lives within, this is no surprise. But for those who have been too afraid to look within or too busy, your flaws enhancing your loveliness doesn't quite sound reasonable.

You see, when you find you, it implies that you have taken a journey down a particular path. That alone speaks volumes. That you have journeyed down that path means that the self-love within has begun to sprout, no matter how delicate a seedling it may be presently. That you have journeyed down that path means that you have decided to become more courageous, less judgmental and definitely more honest. These are the qualities that cause you to see flaws differently. Your bruises, your tattered upbringing, your abuses toward others, your shame are simply tarnish on an amour of steel and when you rub it, when you tend to your imperfections, this is you taking care of you, and this is you being brave enough to see the truth.  And this courage transforms your thinking.  It is inexplicable why or how this bravery transforms your way of thinking, but it simply does.

When there is no one to love you, you must love yourself, when there is no one to take care of you, you must. When there is no one to praise you, believe in you, hear you and know that you are worth it-that is the way the Universe posts a "help wanted" sign. And the person the Universe wants to hire is you. Yes, it's true the Universe may have initially promoted someone else to the position, but they said 'no' to the offer. And either you take the job, or you tell the Universe that It needs to force someone else into the position. This is you saying to the Universe, that place that holds each and every one of us, our world, our galaxy and all the other billions of galaxies, that it is needs to take your advice. And this is a very arrogant mistake. You aren't supposed to believe in you, you are saying with this refusal, your parents were. You aren't supposed to adore you, your lover was, and so on. This way of thinking is ultimately suicidal whether you take your life slowly through neglect of your health, abuse of drugs, or in one quick final moment of hopelessness. But at the very least, this is the path to unhappiness.

Find you, and you no longer need to be friends with everyone. Find you, and you can love life even though you just lost your job. Find you and you can feel gorgeous even though you are overweight, feel yourself a genius even though you are still trying to get that best seller published or believe that you are destined for greatness though no one around you thinks you are at all special.  Do these experiences hurt?  Yes, they hurt those who are willing to overcome this, just as much as it hurts those who refuse to overcome.  But find you, and you find the greatest treasure in the world. When you find you, you find god, god with the little "g", and then all prospects and all joys become possible.

The Sacred Breath

Blog: repost 3/25/14

Breathing- most of don't even think about it and if we do, we think of it as something only important because it's what sustains life. But one day we will have a new culture. It will be a culture that understands breath to be far more than the airy substance that we breathe.

What is breath and what is so special about it, you may ask? I would first answer it by saying that breath is not just special- it is sacred. In the Aramaic language breath and spirit are one and the same. Think on that a moment. Imagine fully accepting that breath and spirit are one. If we allowed this concept to become part of our daily lives, we would constantly realize that we were merging with God through our respiration, consuming God, bringing God into our very experience both physically, mentally and of course spiritually. Just that realization alone could revolutionize our society, the culture we live in and how we view life and each other. We would look around and see God everywhere. We would no longer believe that churches, synagogues and temples held God; instead we would see it the other way around. God being the very air, permeates every stone in those buildings, and so God holds them in place. More importantly, there would be no need to feel walking into a building is what made those services sacred. In fact, since God is the breath that makes every Imam, every Rabbi and Minister's words possible, it wouldn't even be their words that were sacred but instead the breath that gave them life. Every breeze would be ecstatic, there would be meaning in the wind, as though God were embracing us, every tree that swayed and every leaf that trembled in its wake would to us look like the shivering of joy, and perhaps we might smile and for a moment be at one with nature.

Accepting that breathing and spirit were the same we would come to understand why deep breathing relaxes us, and why breathing slowly changes our brains waves, causing that organ to operate on deeper and healthier levels. It would make sense to us why it is that when we take a deep breath the anger goes away, but conversely, why that same deep breath during sex causes our joy to explode into ecstasy. Accepting this concept of spirit and breath we would finally understand how breathing slowly through meditation reverses the effects of stress on our bodies and minds, how it releases just the hormones and chemicals that support our immune system and how it also has the potential to alleviate or lessen high blood pressure, anxiety, asthma, diabetes, aging, depression... the list could go on for quite a while. We would, however, come to understand why the breath heals for we would understand that it is after all, God.

Love, is the Answer...

Blog 9/17/14

Love is the answer, and you know that for sure. These are the words of John Lennon, and they are true. In a society ravished with greed and apathy, it seems many don't believe this, but the cause of their disbelief is also the effect of their nonbelieving. The problem is smallness. When we don't care about others, we contract like gravy simmering on the stovetop. We lose the life flow, the moving life force, as our density becomes greater and greater. And after a while, we become so contracted we crystalize into people who no longer feel, who don't grow, and who find it increasingly difficult to expand.

It is supposed to feel difficult to exist. And this difficulty is supposed to excite you like a Warrior. Like a Warrior who has just been told that the secret to life is in an ancient box at the top of the mountain sitting regally in the distant horizon. And what does the Warrior do, bemoan her fate and turn away, or smile towards the bearer of the news, and get on about the business of reaching that mountain top? The difficulty of life is normal and when we accept this, we change. Accepting truth changes us-always. Maybe you wonder, but why is it normal to feel that our existence is difficult? Well, you see, it sort of hurts to expand. It feels uncomfortable to move beyond our boundaries and it feels awkward, very awkward to stretch beyond our usual emotional landscape or daily discourse.

If you practice Yoga you may be familiar with the sensation of pain that occurs when we incorporate a new stretch into our routine. On the surface it appears that it is merely our muscles being stretched that ache. But on a deeper level, what is going on is that the capillaries within the muscle tissue that is being pulled beyond its normal boundary is being fed with blood-blood that hasn't reached that part of the capillary and hence that muscle for- maybe years... And so life is moving into the tissue, pumping it up with nutrients and all kinds of good stuff and that hurts. Now transpose this concept into your mental/emotional spiritual nature and understand that when you reach out to another with kindness that is rare for you, the reason it is so damned awkward is because Life is filling up a part of your mind/emotional and or spiritual nature that before, hadn't reached that part of you for- maybe years, or maybe never before.... And so Life is moving into you and that sort of hurts or at the very least, fills you with discomfort.

So, love is the answer. And if our lives are not stretching with the pulse of Life, if we are not caring, giving, forgiving and trying to comprehend the incomprehensible, we are becoming concretized and more and more, unalive. And this call to be more is not to incite guilt. On the contrary, accept where you are, accept the difficulty you experience once you realize you must grow, and one day at a time, merely allow the call to unfold within, and eventually motivate you to be the true YOU, you were meant to become, for we were all created to become Queens and Kings, and masters of our domain.

The Inner Persecutor

Blog 8/25/14

Years ago I did drugs. In fact, I did them too much.  I realized this after inadvertently discovering my appetite for the "high" was more voracious than my peers. Initially I endeavored, not to stop, but to control my intake. And during this three year journey I met the "inner persecutor". Before I go on, I would like to say that this experience was years ago, and aside from a glass of red wine to relax or with my dinner, I do nothing, not even cigarettes. But I would like to introduce you to the inner persecutor, because "it's" not just something unique to me, it's within us all.

The inner persecutor is that part of us that we think is us and so therefore it fools us into doing or not doing many things. It cons us into living a life of mediocrity and can drive us mad, into suicidal ideations and drive us away from the truth of our being. For me, it was the voice that when I was endeavoring to control my drug habit, would say, "Oh come on. What's the harm in it, after all it's Margo's birthday?" Or, it would say, "Wow, this has been a harrowing day, you really deserve to 'get away'." And because its voice was in my head, I thought it was me. For years I thought it was me, until I realized it was the voice that persecuted the "good" in me. It persecuted the positive intentions, it persecuted my ambition, my goals and my daring to be bigger and better than my negative environment. It was so good at convincing, I later realized it would have made a great lawyer, except for the fact that it would have persecuted the goal of becoming one.

My three year journey into curbing my recreational appetite, fortunately transformed into a boredom of getting high and consequently, my desire to see life through sober eyes. But there was no mistaking how valuable that lesson of getting to know the persecutor had been. As the years progressed, I realized that the persecutor was not just a voice exclusive to my getting high. It was also the voice that didn't believe in my dreams, and so when I had lofty ideas, it would persecute them and tell me that I wasn't special enough to do this or that. It was the voice that told me certain men were out of my league, or that certain jobs were. It was good at keeping me small, insecure and filled with doubt.

To alleviate my inner turmoil, I began to meditate and practice stillness and quietude. As I practiced, more and more, I could hear another voice. I'll call this voice my "Higher Self" or my inner "inspiration". This voice told me things that were hard to believe. And not because they were things or experiences I didn't want, but because they were exactly what I desired in my heart of hearts. It told me I could have the life that I really, really wanted. You know, that life that you want too. That life that we all want, the life that is good, that is filled with victories over our battles, the life that is scattered with petals of love, good fortune, blessings and others showing you goodwill. As I got to know my inspired self, as I sought it out, as I pleaded for its voice when life was too loud with hardship and doubt, I found it was growing into a presence, vague, but noticeable if I was centered enough. And as this presence grew, so did an aura, or a light of protection grow around me. I don't know how to really describe what it was that grew around me, but I can tell you explicitly what it did. It kept life from burning me, from harsh harm entering my life. In other words it not only kept my mind balanced enough to stay on a positive path, but it took actual experiences, actual experiences that were heading in a scary direction, and made them detour into less harrowing terrain. Oh sure, I still had ups and downs, I am after all, though calm on the outside full of drama on the inside! I feel everything. I am passionate about everything- almost. It can almost get me into trouble, but it makes life so colorful I find I enjoy my emotions. They aren't me, they are just the inner music that goes along with the movie called "my life". So, yes I still feel life, but it doesn't take away the joy inside me. It may quiet the joy, make it radiate less brightly for a while, but make my inner "sun" go super nova and collaspe into a black hole? No, not by a long shot does it extinguish my inner light, that inner steel that I have come to know as the "real me". It's always a "bad as it ever was" no matter what life throws my way.

So, what I would like to say in this moment when depression is first and foremost in the minds of many is that where there is Light, there can be no darkness, and this is true scientifically and spiritually. And money doesn't brighten our Light, neither does fame, for if it could, no one of great repute would ever commit suicide. The armor of Light is available to the poor, the special ones in our world, it is there for the abandoned, the abused and to the rich and beautiful as well. But the Light is found on a path that we only find when we seek inward, over and over again. For this inner Self is like a lover of great beauty, one who is not easy to woo nor willing to give herself/himself cheaply.  It will not submit if you are more in love with another or in love with distractions, fame, with drugs or all and anything of this world. If you find your mind bombarded by the persecutor of all that is good, the only way to silence it, is to seek the other voice, the voice of your inspired Self, and when you find Her/Him, you will wonder how you survived this world for so long without It.

Why is being positive so taboo?

Blog  8/24/14

Have you ever had something really great happen in your life, perhaps you received a raise, or followed a dream that began to really take off? You'd like to share your bubbling glee with someone but you know if you do, it will be frowned upon. The other, you realize, will simply think you are bragging or showing off. So you don't share it. Or if you do, you water down your story sufficiently to be considered acceptable. Have you also noticed that if you think you're really looking great, if you're really happy with with the weight you've lost, or how your new hair cut really brings out those gorgeous cheekbones of yours, you aren't really supposed to say so? Here's what is going on in a nutshell. We all say to ourselves and one another, "You should feel good about who you are!" and "Don't doubt yourself, think of yourself as a winner." But as soon as you do think of yourself as a winner, as soon as you say- "I'm going to be an extraordinary, prolific writer that writes books that the public adores," others look at you and then to each other with raised eyebrows. "Oh, someone is full of themselves," they say with a smile. A cordial smile that hints at the gossip that is going to knock you over like a tornado the moment you walk away! I think there is something dreadfully wrong with this social dynamic. We are children of an awesome God after all. We are supposed to be and feel magnificent, not filled with excuses and embarrassment when we accidentally radiate self-love, genius and or complete and unconditional self-acceptance.

You're not fully convinced yet, are you? You're thinking, "I've never felt this way when someone shared their good fortune." Well tell me this, and I am speaking to women right now. When is the last time you stood next to a woman in the bathroom as she painted her shapely lips and saw her throw herself a kiss, wink her long eyelashes and then say, "God, you're beautiful!"? Never, right? Right. Most people who feel this way wouldn't dare do that because they would get slammed by the person standing next to them. Our society has schizophrenia. We say you should love yourself, think yourself beautiful and see yourself as strong and successful, but when you do, people resent you for it. Why is that? You may wonder. I believe that as a whole, our culture has low self-esteem. In fact, I believe it to be a global dynamic And when a person rises above the mediocrity of that poor esteem, it gets our attention, and we don't like it one bit. We only accept it when you feel really bad about yourself and are trying to feel better. In other words, you have to be nearly at rock bottom, and trying to get not to the top, but just the next wrung for us to find your ambition acceptable. But alas, don't make it to the mountain top and actually accomplish self-actualization, and if you do- don't even dream about sharing!

One by one, we have to decide to rise above the mindset of drudgery and dare to feel exceptional and evolve to even greater and greater heights. I can do even better. How about this- tell yourself that you are going to reach your highest destiny. Don't just live well, go for the nectar, for all the juice in that baby called your existence. This is a hard task, but learning to not think about what others are thinking helps greatly. Learn to mind your own business in other words. Oh, I know that sounds harsh, but let me explain. What I mean is this, wondering or projecting what you think others are thinking of you, is their business, not yours. What they think belongs to them and reflects who they are, not who you are. Your business is to be you and to constantly muster the courage to continue being you. If you try to get inside another's mind and divine their thoughts about you, not only will you have wandered off the path of your destiny, but you aren't even functioning in reality! You are functioning in the world of the imagination when you live inside someone else's head. And the only thing you will accomplish is the projection of your own fears that you attribute to them.  But it's your fears that make you think another is juding you harshly when they haven't uttered one word. In other words, what you think as their thoughts will really just be your insecurities and fears. So don't do it- ever! Just being you will be hard enough. So, be you, stay centered and embrace whatever it is you love about you. And then do us all a favor and share every ounce of your self-approval with the world, even if they will scorn you for it.

Staying Connected to the Divine

Blog 7/27/14

I was viewing the episode Living Space on an astronomy series called "Into the Wormhole" several weeks ago. There a scientist named, Seth Lloyd spoke about how electrons, atoms and all subatomic particles store information and therefore 'think'. Long story short, there are quantum computers that make use of electrons and this is what enables them to process and think like a mind, but the Universe which is actually built from subatomic particles must in some way be a computer as well. Well, okay, the Universe came first so it's not really fair to call the Universe a computer, but here's the point. The Universe thinks. And so you don't have to read this sentence again, I shall just repeat myself and say, yes, "The Universe thinks." You get that, yes? The Universe thinks. Yet if you are impressed with computers, you should be wowed and floored by the prospect of the Universe being able to compute, for its thinking capabilities are beyond our comprehension. In other words, it can manage infinite- yes, infinite activities all at once and even manage activities that our minds will never be able to comprehend.

So, if you believe the Universe to be the mind of God, then you can finally grasp, somewhat, how God can know you, attend to the billions of cells in your body, manage the functioning of how your mind and body function, juggle billions of galaxies while at the same time chew cosmic gum. But here is my point, and you didn't see this coming, I apologize. But my point is, whatever our brains are doing can't really be considered thinking in comparison. I mean, yeah, we can be astounding. In fact our minds compute 10 million, billion computations per second and some of the art and inventions of mankind is awesome, I have to admit. But think about that conversation you overheard while in the grocery store yesterday. Yes, the one about how Macy's is having a sale and how just because John and Tonia argue and swear in front of the kids doesn't excuse their little boy from bullying the neighbor's son and cursing in school!

Is that really thinking? Yes, but is it really? How about this, is that the level of mind functioning you want to use to journey through life or do you want to find your spiritual USB cord and hook it up to the Universal computer? I can't speak for you, but I want to chuck my miniscule brain and start downloading guidance. I want to feel upset and then download some insight into whether my upset reaction is a correct response. I want to go on a date with a hot intelligent man, but hook up my USB cord and ask that the Universe remove his mask and show me the truth inside his heart. I want to write this blog, and before posting it, make sure it's filled with light and something that might expand me, you and anyone else in our vicinity.

That show about how computers think and how it mimics the Universe changed me. I was on cloud 9 for weeks afterwards. I was taken aback, in awe, and looking around as I walked the dogs and drove to work, thinking, "Hey, I'm moving around and inside eternal genius, inside an intelligence that knows me, that can compute so many things at once, that I now know I am seen, I am heard, my life is being observed, and all I have to do it stop thinking I'm so damned smart and connect with the cosmic computer." And all I can think even now, is, "How cool is that?"

Unhappy and In Love:

Blog 7/18/14

Most of us enjoy being in a romantic relationship, but some of us need to be in one. If you are someone who needs companionship so much that you compromise your own values and self-respect then there are some things you might want to consider. Here's the problem, you are looking for happiness, that is why you are involved with someone else, but if that person brings you down, speaks disrespectfully toward you, or is using you then you have to admit you aren't very happy. Right? So, the first thing you have to do is stop being in denial. Here, I will say it again- you're aren't happy. Have you got it now? You aren't happy- there I said it again.

You may say, well if I am unhappy, I would rather be unhappy and in a relationship, than unhappy and alone. But alas, your logic is flawed. You see, if you are being trampled on emotionally by another and you remain, your self-esteem will take a beating, or it may even be beaten until it dies. If though, you are trampled on, and you leave, your self-esteem puffs out its chest and thinks- "Yeah, that's right. I am awesome. Yes, I do deserve better!" This is what leaving an unhealthy situation does for you- and it doesn't matter if it's relationship you leave, a job, or a family member.

Here's something you know in your heart, but that you have been avoiding. You can only be happy if you are first happy within. And if you are happy within, you don't need anything else to complete you. When you feel good inside, you live life in a "preference" mode. What this means is that you still like things, you still have desires, but your desires are no longer needs, they are preferences. So in the case of relationships, you may prefer to be in a relationship, but if that relationship does not serve you in a healthy way, then you find yourself preferring to be alone and that's power. It feels powerful to be able to leave anything, everything, that is harmful to your mind body or spirit!

Finding inner contentment and self-love is about loving yourself unconditionally. In other words, you don't love yourself because you've earned it by being perfect or rich. You love yourself with your lumpy thighs, with that imperfect nose and that quirky personality that makes you all edges and awkward. Yes, you look in the mirror or at your bank account and still decide to wrap your arms around you and shout out to the world how uniquely awesome you are! In fact, do that now. Wrap your arms around you and shout out- "I am awesome!" And if you don't believe it, say it every day for 5 or 6 months- everyday!

So, I would like to conclude this blog by encouraging you to always be honest with yourself and to remember this- "Mistakes the fool does not learn from, the smart however does, yet the wise from the mistakes of others do they."

Imagination: The Creator's Womb

Repost

The imagination is that psychological element within us all, which is rarely paid attention to, and given even less respect than the acknowledgment received. In fact, in school, it is that place where children go, but are told not to. How many have heard a teacher telling a student to stop day dreaming? If you haven't heard this personally, you have no doubt heard of it occurring.  Even as an adult you are reprimanded for having a "wild imagination", or for "living too much in your head".

But think on this- the imagination may very well be the only place worth visiting. The imagination may be the place within us which like a womb, gestates life and gives it form and thus existence. The imagination may be the place where "gods" go to create worlds that one day, become external. Just like a baby lives first within, gaining strength and mass so that it can exist in the world we all recognize. The womb of a woman may be the physical twin to the inner mind, the noncorporeal vessel, called the imagination.

Think of these phrases and ask yourself what do they have in common, and where does the activity these phrases refer to, exist? "As you sow, so shall you reap", "As your faith, so be it unto you", "As a man thinketh, so is He", "Your faith can only take you as far as your vision allows." I ask you, where do you sow if not in your imagination, where does your faith live, except in a place that believes in what it can not see or touch?  And where does a man think, where is the mind, in other words, for the mind is not the organ we call the brain? And lastly, where does the vision of life reside? All of these activities are the activity of the imagination. That place that sees what no human sight rests upon, that place that hears what no earthly ears record, this is the realm of the imagination. It is the realm where "gods" create, large or small, good or bad, for this place judges not, it is the womb that gives birth in spite of the infirmitites cast into its mold. The imagination is the non-corporeal womb that gestates images, thoughts and feelings and just like an embryo grows with the multiplying of billions of cells, so do your images, thoughts and feelings accumulate what is needed to become externalized into the world of form.

The secret to creating, is to feel it is already so. This is called faith; you must feel something is so, to have faith in it, for if you do not feel it, you can not believe it. When you think of whatever it is you want to experience, you must find a way to feel this thing, you must see in your mind that you have this that you want, and sense how you would feel to have this thing, this achievement, this state or what have you. When you feel the experience of having, you are allowing your imagination to flesh out your vision. The more you feel that you have attained this thing, the greater the depth of feeling that it lives somewhere in some place beyond the external. When the feeling becomes ecstatic, you know that the imagination is heavily impregnated.  The time of its birth, however, is for the Universe to determine~

The Search for God

Blog 7/8/14

We are as fish in search of water. We swim and dive in and out of our surroundings wondering where is God? Where is the Intelligence that created all? Where is the Holy Grail that, once found, grants all wishes good and magnificent? Yes, we are like fish, surrounded by the Intelligence that manages a Universe that is endless, that organizes the movement of Celestial bodies, and that gives life to stars that are more plentiful than the pebbles of sands on all our beaches.

We are moving and breathing in the Holy Grail that manifests our deepest beliefs and then projects them onto the screen called our awareness. It's only that we need to acknowledge this obvious truth. Obvious in that sense that, certainly we must exist inside that which created all, for there could be no borders, there could be no existence "outside" of that which is ALL. Yes? Yes, you say, of course! We must live within the ALL, for ALL means just that- "All". There is no outside of All-ness. And so we are in God, within God, and all about us must be sacred- therefore. Yes, we are swimming within splendor, we are moving about in between and through the exquisite invisible light of IT's love, intelligence and activity. Now let's talk about IT's love, intelligence and activity.

The creator must love in a fashion that differs from our love, for Sun's go nova, galaxies collide and loved ones die. Love must be akin to evolution or transcendence, the notion that all of IT's creations must change, merge, and transcend to become ever new creations. But the newly created must by nature be, better than or more complex or more splendid than the previous creation. Just as the egg and sperm are exquisite in their own right, but not as complex as the multiplying of cells that is soon to occur and that ultimately creates a life that can then with its intellect, marvel at the beauty of the egg and sperm that it once was.  So to the creator, Love must be the movement toward more magnificence. This is not such a bad thought, for health is more magnificent than illness, an illness that does not teach the mind and spirit to expand.  Surely abundance displays more elegance than impoverishment. A keen intellect must be more radiant than a dull one, and giving to self and others, more beautiful than the act of stinginess. We love like the creator when our actions make something more, expansive or abundant as opposed to our actions imposing imprisonment.

The intelligence of the creator is absolute. IT understands all parts and pieces and how to maintain and sustain them in perfect order. If we surrender our lives to its Intelligence, our lives would have to become increasingly organized and perfect. Surrendering to perfection and order must be akin to adding a plethora of equations using our own mind, or turning over the expansive mathematics to a computer.

The creator is always active, for it is alive. So it must, every moment of the day, always be moving its creations, like the galaxies that are moving apart from each other faster than the speed of light. Whatever we submit to the Creator, must become part of IT's activity, IT's intelligence and IT's loving Spirit. What we surrender then, is moved by the Creator, organized and finding all that is necessary for the perfection of that which we surrendered. And though we may not see the actions and organizing power of God, neither do we see the inner workings of a computer that go amiss by us as we sit staring at its screen.

The question as to how much do we involve ourselves in our own lives and how much do we surrender is the dance of life and perhaps what was meant to be the most joyful of interactions between us and the Creator Herself. This was meant to be a joyful co-creative act. But as we look around, it is clear that we have elevated ourselves to be the sole creator, and the evidence of our skill is found on the battle fields of our wars, the wards of our hospitals, in the land and sea where our animals lay dead, and within the turmoil of our broken homes.
