Different Shades of Truth

I believe that there is only One Source of Truth, and from that one source are many expressions of that truth. Just like there is art, and many ways that artist's use the paint and brush, or music and many styles that musicians use or create sound, there too is Truth and many expressions or hues of truth. I do not believe that man is capable of comprehending the ultimate truth any more than an ant could fathom the history of the world. But I do believe that your expressions are either resonating or not resonate with Truth. I believe that you can know truth by finding it in nature, and if you can not find your theory of truth in nature, then perhaps you should be wary of it.

The concept of Karma has become very popular in the West but sometimes it is used too simplistically. The definition of Karma is "action, seen as bringing upon oneself inevitable results, good or bad, either in this life or in a reincarnation." In other words, what you are reaping is what you have sown. You can see this in nature when you plant an apple tree and an apple tree, not a banana tree springs up. Some however see Karma as a mirror and what you see in your life or another person correlates exactly to you. So if your boss is always blaming you for things you haven't done, then that means you must be blaming someone for things they haven't done. I can agree with this up to a point. I don't however think that your boss blaming you must always mean that you are blaming others and this is the cause of your "karma". The ocean ebbs and flows upon the beach, the cause for this is due to the gravitational pull of the Sun and the Moon on the Earth's surface, but during a Tsunami the cause of the tide is due to an earthquake, a volcanic eruption or perhaps an underwater landslide.

If what you can see in nature are effects that can be caused by more than one thing, then I believe the same must be true for you as well. Your experiences must be comparable to the tide that is affected not only by the gravitational forces, but also by other causes. What happens when you think your lives must be known by only observing others and then asking yourselves how you do this thing that you do not like as well- is that you are always looking outside of yourselves. When this is your practice, you are always looking out at the world and at others in search for yourselves. You stand a chance of loosing your self identification when you are only identified by first identifying the behaviors of another and how that then relates back to you. As with the ocean tides the exterior force which is gravitational is not the only producer of waves. The ocean is also affected by its own interior world as in when underground tectonic plates shift and cause an earthquake or landslide.

An author, Joel Goldsmith in his book The Infinite Way, explains that the good and bad that occur to you are not strictly life mirroring your actions, but your life mirroring your degree of Spiritual Consciousness. "Realize that all the good you experience is the shinning forth of your own consciousness even when it appears to come from or through some other individual. Recognize every evil appearance as a false perception of harmony and therefore not to be feared or hated." So this author is not professing you look at another to know what you are doing to reap this moment, but instead to look within at your own beliefs. His instruction is to look at one thing only, and very simply he suggests that your beliefs have given form to this experience.  Ultimately he is suggesting that if your beliefs are of a benevolent and absolute power of Love that your life will reflect this amazing degree of harmony and exquisite good fortune.  Do you believe there is a spiritual dimension that can be accessed by your conscious awareness, and if accessed and fully embraced, this consciousness reveals a harmonious existence?  This is what he is asking, ultimately.

While I believe that both methods of truth seeking are viable, I don't think that one is better than the other or that one should only and always be used. Of these paths of truth, one way may work better for some, I believe that. But I don't believe that another can say to you that you must choose one over the other or else you are not as evolved as they are. I believe we should look at others and at life and see how you may commit the same offenses or the same blessings. I also believe that you should look at others and at life and check to see how close you are to viewing life as your Higher Selves view it. This second road offers for me, plenty of lessons in one punch for you have to first believe –

  • That life can be perfectly or almost perfectly harmonious.
  • Then you must believe that you can somehow be a channel for this harmony to resonate outside of you and into the world.
  • And thirdly, then you must find a way to do so.

This approach offers you many hours of meditating since you must first find a way to believe in the good of the universe and then you must meditate on whether you can accept and believe that this good was meant to be part of the world's experience and your experience too. If you are so lucky to find the manner of believing this, then you move on to quietly contemplating how to find the manner of releasing this splendor. Each and every one of these steps is performed within your own consciousness, and because of this, without knowing it, you are communing with your nonphysical intelligence, that which we call spirit. In other words, you are forming a relationship with your spirit when you meditate on such subjects, and this is a good and wondrous thing.
